I’m Youness El Mehyry

Our Founder’s Story

My name is Youness El Mehyry, and I am the founder of tapiismarrakech. Born in 1998, my journey into the world of Moroccan rugs began in 2015 when I started working with my father in his bazaar in Marrakech. Driven by my passion for traditional craftsmanship and my desire to share Morocco’s rich cultural heritage, I immersed myself in the art of selling and understanding the intricate stories woven into every rug.

In 2020, when the world faced the crisis of the coronavirus pandemic, I took a major step forward by creating tapiismarrakech, with the goal of bringing authentic handmade Moroccan rugs and artisanal products to a global audience. What began as a local venture has since grown into a brand that has achieved more than 70,000 sales worldwide, building a strong and loyal community of customers who appreciate the beauty and authenticity of our products.

At the heart of my journey lies a deep commitment to supporting the artisans behind each creation. I proudly collaborate with five cooperatives across Morocco, representing more than 300 talented women who skillfully create custom rugs and other handmade products. My mission goes beyond business — it is about empowering women and helping improve the lives of their families and children. That is why I also contribute donations to several cooperatives in Morocco, ensuring these hardworking women receive the support they truly deserve.

Through tapiismarrakech, my goal is not only to showcase the beauty of Moroccan rug craftsmanship, but also to create a positive impact within my community. Every rug tells a story, and with your support, that story becomes one of hope, empowerment, and a brighter future for hundreds of families across Morocco.
